You tend to think that once you remove a file permanently there's no going back, but that's not it at all: these files remain on the hard drive until another file is located in its space. Conclusion: any miscreant could use a special program for these tasks and steal your data. Hence the importance of a program like Prevent Restore, which prevents recovery of deleted files and folders.

Prevent Restore includes a wizard to help in the whole process. What the program does is rewrite with random data space where the deleted data was. Prevent Restore works with USB drives and memory cards, but it's not recommended to use with CDs (CDR, DVD) because these discs, according to the author of the program, would have to be burned (physically) to prevent data recovery.

As the program works with gigabytes, it takes a long time to do its job. Prevent Restore is operational with a dozen languages.
